Connor Turns 3 Construction Style!

I wasn't planning on having an elaborate 3rd birthday party for Connor, but the more I looked on Pinterest, the more overdone it got! Plus, 2 months of everyone's attention being on his new sister, I figured he deserved a party that was all about him..  So this is what we came up with :-) His birthday party was on Saturday March 15th. (he actually turned 3 on March 4th though)

Decoration Details:

(not sure why this isn't rotating the way it should, but it is the wooden kits the kids each built-they were the leftovers from past Home Depot Workshops :-) (It pays to live in a small town, and to have recently spent WAY TOO much money there recently)

The older kids had to help get the toolboxes and coaster sets together, but the little ones all did great with the hammer :-) Good job brave parents and big kids for letting them help!

When we ask Connor to smile, he does this blinking thing :-)...

I caught one here with a  real smile:

Painting was a big hit!

Grandma Nancy enjoyed cuddling with baby Ness while we built and painted :-)

I set up a photo booth with lots of Construction dress up things, this is what everyone came up with:

We also had a dump truck piƱata, started with the littlest ones, then made it to ALMOST everyone before it broke, everyone enjoyed their bag of goodies :-) Here is the birthday boy taking his swings at it:

Blowing out his candle:

The "paint brushes" were the biggest hit among everyone! Who wouldn't like white chocolate dipped rice krispy treats!

There was cake and icecream too :-)

We had a very memorable time, and want to thank everyone again who came, or who was so thoughtful and generous enough to send Connor a card or gift! He had a great time, and will hopefully remember it for many many years :-)

Below is my annual "letter to Connor at.." so you don't have to read it if you don't want, it's more for my memory sake :-)

Connor, I can't believe you are already 3 years old. It seems like just yesterday Dad and I brought you home from the hospital :-) Here are a few of the things that describe you at 3:

You're starting to sleep through the night by yourself, SOME nights! You still prefer and manage to join us in our bed, usually around 2-4 am....

You and Duke are very best buddies, you often will play independently with him upstairs or outside for hours.

You are very sweet to you little sister, I will often catch you kissing her on the forehead, rubbing her tummy, and lately you love to assist her in rolling over. You have had a few moments when you were too wound up or rough with her, but most of the time you are a VERY sweet big brother.

You are VERY imaginative and have an incredible memory...

When you get to watch a "show" you like Paw Patrol, Bob the Builder, Umi Zoomi and Blues Clues the best.

You also like to watch "the Voice" with Mom and Dad, always looking for the next Jackie! (the cute girl from last season :-)

You are very flirtatious and silly around cute girls (like the ones in their teens and twentys!)

You love sports, Tennis and Soccer are your favorites right now.

You love to jump over things, well and off of things too :-)

You love to build things and are becoming more interested in coloring and art stuff.

Your breakfast of choice is: pancakes with honey and syrup, lunch of choice: chicken nuggets, carrots, and raspberries, Dinner: Steak (or buck meat you'd say) pineapple/strawberries, and broccoli.

Then you'd finish any meal off with chocolate... (every meal if we'd let you)

You love to go "hunting" with dad... so far you've gone coyote hunting in the backyard :-) and you love to go on pretend hunting trips.

You also love to help with the firewood.

You are AMAZING on your balance bike! You can ride down a hill with your feet up balancing for a VERY long time, we are considering getting you a big boy bike very soon!

You are going to the bathroom completely independently, as long as your pants are elastic waisted, you often don't even tell us you are going or have gone anymore. (also on a side note you did GREAT with your Meatoplasy surgery, helping this even more)

You still travel in the car very well, and have an incredible sense of direction!

You do have a stubborn streak, and have been known to thrown a few fits!

Even though your language skills are above average, you still resort to whining often, we are working on that!

At night when we pray, you almost always mention being thankful for Devyn, Chase and Marisa... you look up to them very much!!

oh I could go on all day, you are a fun kid to spend my days with!! hope you stay as thoughtful and sweet as you are right now....
