Connor Turns 3 Construction Style!

I wasn't planning on having an elaborate 3rd birthday party for Connor, but the more I looked on Pinterest, the more overdone it got! Plus, 2 months of everyone's attention being on his new sister, I figured he deserved a party that was all about him..  So this is what we came up with :-) His birthday party was on Saturday March 15th. (he actually turned 3 on March 4th though)

Decoration Details:

(not sure why this isn't rotating the way it should, but it is the wooden kits the kids each built-they were the leftovers from past Home Depot Workshops :-) (It pays to live in a small town, and to have recently spent WAY TOO much money there recently)

The older kids had to help get the toolboxes and coaster sets together, but the little ones all did great with the hammer :-) Good job brave parents and big kids for letting them help!

When we ask Connor to smile, he does this blinking thing :-)...

I caught one here with a  real smile:

Painting was a big hit!

Grandma Nancy enjoyed cuddling with baby Ness while we built and painted :-)

I set up a photo booth with lots of Construction dress up things, this is what everyone came up with:

We also had a dump truck piƱata, started with the littlest ones, then made it to ALMOST everyone before it broke, everyone enjoyed their bag of goodies :-) Here is the birthday boy taking his swings at it:

Blowing out his candle:

The "paint brushes" were the biggest hit among everyone! Who wouldn't like white chocolate dipped rice krispy treats!

There was cake and icecream too :-)

We had a very memorable time, and want to thank everyone again who came, or who was so thoughtful and generous enough to send Connor a card or gift! He had a great time, and will hopefully remember it for many many years :-)

Below is my annual "letter to Connor at.." so you don't have to read it if you don't want, it's more for my memory sake :-)

Connor, I can't believe you are already 3 years old. It seems like just yesterday Dad and I brought you home from the hospital :-) Here are a few of the things that describe you at 3:

You're starting to sleep through the night by yourself, SOME nights! You still prefer and manage to join us in our bed, usually around 2-4 am....

You and Duke are very best buddies, you often will play independently with him upstairs or outside for hours.

You are very sweet to you little sister, I will often catch you kissing her on the forehead, rubbing her tummy, and lately you love to assist her in rolling over. You have had a few moments when you were too wound up or rough with her, but most of the time you are a VERY sweet big brother.

You are VERY imaginative and have an incredible memory...

When you get to watch a "show" you like Paw Patrol, Bob the Builder, Umi Zoomi and Blues Clues the best.

You also like to watch "the Voice" with Mom and Dad, always looking for the next Jackie! (the cute girl from last season :-)

You are very flirtatious and silly around cute girls (like the ones in their teens and twentys!)

You love sports, Tennis and Soccer are your favorites right now.

You love to jump over things, well and off of things too :-)

You love to build things and are becoming more interested in coloring and art stuff.

Your breakfast of choice is: pancakes with honey and syrup, lunch of choice: chicken nuggets, carrots, and raspberries, Dinner: Steak (or buck meat you'd say) pineapple/strawberries, and broccoli.

Then you'd finish any meal off with chocolate... (every meal if we'd let you)

You love to go "hunting" with dad... so far you've gone coyote hunting in the backyard :-) and you love to go on pretend hunting trips.

You also love to help with the firewood.

You are AMAZING on your balance bike! You can ride down a hill with your feet up balancing for a VERY long time, we are considering getting you a big boy bike very soon!

You are going to the bathroom completely independently, as long as your pants are elastic waisted, you often don't even tell us you are going or have gone anymore. (also on a side note you did GREAT with your Meatoplasy surgery, helping this even more)

You still travel in the car very well, and have an incredible sense of direction!

You do have a stubborn streak, and have been known to thrown a few fits!

Even though your language skills are above average, you still resort to whining often, we are working on that!

At night when we pray, you almost always mention being thankful for Devyn, Chase and Marisa... you look up to them very much!!

oh I could go on all day, you are a fun kid to spend my days with!! hope you stay as thoughtful and sweet as you are right now....

2 months old and already going to Hawaii!

Again I am way behind on Blogging... but here is me catching up.. The kids and I snuck off to Hawaii the first week of March to meet up with my Mom and Dad, Brother and his girlfriend, and our good friends the Grants: Lori and her two boys and their wives.. It was a TON of fun and I survived the travels with just me and the kids! The only hiccup was I ALMOST left my phone in the car on the way there.. was able to chase Suzanne (who gave me a ride to the airport).. and caught her just as she was pulling out of the parking spot in the parking garage! WHHEEW close one :-) other than that it all went GREAT.. wish Jeremy could have gone, it would have been even better.... but I understand his wanting to save leave time for Hunting.. (well I don't personally understand that.. but I understand my husband so I get his decision :-) Had a great time staying with Suzanne before we left, and a great time in the Maui! Here are the favorite pictures.. I will only put captions on the ones that aren't self explanatory :-)

Nessa wasn't happy this time, but had to show the girls' matching ...

I took the carseat through security so that if there were any extra seats on the flight we could have it.... AMAZING trick.. worked both ways! and SOO glad I had it, especially going over as it was the bumpiest flight I've ever been on.. felt much safer having her in this rather than on my lap! Plus it kept my hands free to play with Connor...

ALOHA!! We made it...Happy campers.. Connor travels so well! and Vanessa mostly slept! I got some great ideas from pintrest to keep him entertained, and they worked AWESOME!

Nessa turned 2 months old while we were there..she wasn't too fond of the sand... or cold water on her toes for that matter!

Connor and "Bana" he LOVES Breanna :-)

She started smiling about this time! Still a pretty easy going baby....

the most amazing chairs! great for baby naps too!!

He LOVES his sissy... so precious to see!

Frisbee with the big boys

Cant believe he is 3!! and that this is his 3rd time to Hawaii! spoiled.....

playing tag with Nana

They went for a drive...they look happy here..  because it was BEFORE they went out...

but it was horrible! murky water.. rough.. they all came back with wounds from being rolled into coral!! o well it was worth a try...

so instead they used their rented gear in the pool!! Brian wanted to teach Brianna how to use the equipment...

While they dove we went to the beach... it was windy and Nessa didn't lie the heat! (picky already!)

but we rigged this up and she finally slept..

Mom and I... we saw so many whales while we were here! Glad Connor had opened his birthday present from Nana and Papa... "umigoggles" (AKA binoculars :-)

Best Friends for MANY Years!!  Mom and Lori

The house se stayed at was literally at the end of the runway of the Maui airport.. it was kind of annoying to have planes flying over all day, but Connor loved it.. Brian, Brianna and the kids and I walked to the see them up close....basically standing outside the security gated area, directly in front of the runway...

you  can see the control tower through the fence slats.. that's the tower Brian did his air traffic control internship, and where he hopes to get hired.

small plane

Big plane :-)

Birthday Boy patiently waiting...

Auntie Lori teaching Connor how to drink tea.. they would take a sip together.. then giggle :-) it was adorable!

I feel so lucky to have two adorable, sweet kids!

Soaking up the last day of sun!

He's gonna miss Hawaii... he could definitely be a beach bum!

Last sunset!

Nana and Papa and their grandbabies!

Connor got to go up into the cockpit after our flight home! he was a HAPPY BOY :-)

on the tram in SeaTac airport.. long day!! but great trip!!
