Connor at 1 1/2 years

Wanted to write down a few things about Connor at this age so I can look back on it and remember this stage :-) He is a very smart, very active little man. At his 18 month check up he was 33 inches and about 32 lbs- continues to be a "big kid" I just started putting him in 3T tops, and he still usually wears 2T pants, but will be in 3's before long.. Just moved into size 7 1/2-8 shoes!
He still loves anything with wheels or wings, and has quite the collections of cars! He has an interest in the "mechanics" of how things work, but especially the underneath side of his toy cars. He will pretend to pick off a small object from the underside of the car and hand it to us, then we in turn will give him back the "part" and he'll put it back on the car. Another thing he did the other day that further expanded on this concept was when he found a battery (yeah, i used to have the house "babyproofed" ;-) and I asked him if he could go throw it away (he is AMAZING at putting things back in their specific place, so he understands and fully utilizes the garbage) well instead he took it to his bedroom, took out a large toy truck that used to sing and talk, flipped it over and sat the battery directly on the little door where the batteries go, then looked up at me like "k mom, it should work now right?"... nobody showed him that!! where do they learn these things? :-)
He is great at cleaning up toys, he even sings the "clean up clean up everybody everywhere... song" (well the tune at least :-) He jibber jabbers all the time, but still doesn't have too many fully understandable words, he continues to enjoy sign language though, so at least we understand his needs most of the time. He does have an ear for tunes though, about a month ago him and Jeremy were reading a book before bed and there was a bus, when you ask him what a bus says.. he starts "singing" the tune to "The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round" .. and he did nearly the whole songs tune correctly :-) I know one of these days he's just going to start "talking" he is on the brink of it...
He's starting to show very strong toilet readiness signs, so I don't think it will be long, and he'll be potty trained...I have no intention of pushing or rushing him, he is free to move at his own pace, but he just seems like he is ready, so we will see! While i've not minded using cloth for the past 7 months...I'd be ok with being done with the diaper stage.
He is FINALLY starting to be a good sleeper, he goes to sleep on his own, and usually sleeps until about 3-5am!! YEAH ;-) Although he did take after his daddy and is a very early riser, he consistently is up and ready for the day by 6am.. its a lucky day if I can get him back to sleep until 7! O well, i'll appreciate this when he gets to school age..
One thing I've noticed is that he is still very "needy", in other words; isn't the best at independent play, and likes to have someone play with him most of the time. Also, he still doesn't like to be left in unfamiliar places or with unfamiliar people (gym daycare for example). O well, it's just proof that he loves us, and with time he'll be a perfectly normal, social human....
We LOVE this stage, even with the temper tantrums and occasional frustrations on both sides when the language or lack-thereof becomes an issue... Connor loves us and we love him, he's fun and gets along great with people. He's ADORABLE inside and out :-) and we feel so lucky he's ours. We still can't believe that its already been 19 months!.

These are the pictures I took of him over the past month, so the range form 18month-19months old..

These were at 18 months, before he got a haircut :-) What a handsome little cowboy!!

wrangler bum

What a serious look, love the pose though!

What a cutie!

Peekaboo between trees to get a photo (whatever works at this very active age!)

So big!!

These were after he got his haircut, had to get some "fall"photos :-) We went to the pumpkin patch, he was more interested in the antique tractors they had as decor, than the pumpkins! O well...

It was all I could do to get him to actually sit there... he wanted to be up moving around, so different than the fall photos I got a year ago :-)

What a ham!

AHH Much better mom!! this is more "Connor" anyhow!

Loves tractors!!

These ones I took just a few days ago. I had asked a friend of ours here in town who owns an antique store to keep his eyes out for an old tricycle, and he found one... EXACTLY what I was looking for! I needed a prop that was nice to look at that would keep active toddlers like Connor still long enough to get a few good shots, and we got several :-) I would have had lots more, but my camera died.. urg.. O well. these pretty much show his personality, which it the goal of taking them right?

Such a big kid these days!

I just love the look on his face, he was so happy :-)

Still a little too big for him, but he didn't care!

LOVE this one :-)

Look at those Blue eyes!!

And that SMILE :-)

This is just a cool arty shot! This may end up on the wall somewhere :-)

Fun stage we are in. Can't believe how fast it's gone! I hope that we are just enjoying it as much as we can because before long, he'll be grown and gone :-( But for now, he's our little man who we plan to enjoy as much as possible!!
